Junior Curriculum

The Curriculum broadens beyond the confines of the National Curriculum and is designed to give pupils a wider appreciation of the subjects they study. Pupils enjoy the benefits of specialist teachers for Science, Art, ICT, Mathematics, PE, French, Drama and Music.

Mathematics: Continuing on from Pre-prep, pupils follow the Heinemann Mathematics Scheme.

English: A strong emphasis is placed on reading and language skills, with concentrated individual attention.

History/Geography/Science: The curriculum is supported by visits to our Environmental Centre.

ICT: In addition to pupils having access to computers in the Junior School they regularly visit the Senior School IT Suite.

French: French is taught almost entirely through songs, stories and games which provides many enjoyable opportunities for the children to become confident in speaking and listening.

Physical Education: Pupils develop physical skills using our sports facilities; a large sports hall and extensive grounds. Activities include soccer, rugby, hockey, badminton, volleyball, cricket, netball, athletics and swimming. Sports teams participate in the ISA East Anglia competitions, the local South Kesteven Sports Association, inter school matches and inter house competitions.

Art: Years 4, 5 & 6 are able to produce creative works of art in our purpose-built art room.

Music: We have a suite of rooms in our Music School offering excellent acoustics and the facility for individual practise. This flourishing and vibrant environment allows pupils to explore the magic of this subject

Drama: This includes class drama sessions, drama clubs, speech and drama festivals and examinations in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
