VI Form

Our 6th Form is open to pupils who are currently in school and to new pupils from other schools.

Our 6th Form is quite unique in that it is small and we are able to tailor a very individual 6th Form experience around each pupil. We offer courses at A’Level and BTEC but we also provide the opportunity for GCSEs to be re-taken if necessary.

However, our emphasis is also placed on offering a wealth of wider opportunities which will enable pupils to gain first choice University or College places and to be successful in terms of job applications. In addition to the multitude of sporting, theatrical and musical opportunities, we have enrichment which includes: Hospitality, Enterprise, Sports Coaching to name but a few.

All 6th Form pupils have an opportunity to develop leadership skills and responsibility and they are encouraged to take on new challenges such as Gold Duke of Edinburgh; Gold National Arts Award and Sports Coaching qualifications in addition to their studies.

Careers guidance is supplemented with Work Experience and UCAS applications are carefully overseen by the Head of 6th Form. Pupils have guidance from the Headmistress in the writing of Personal Statements and mock interviews are provided by professionals in such fields as business, industry and sport.

6th Form pupils are treated as young adults and they are given both privileges as well as responsibilities. However, our small numbers and nurturing atmosphere also ensures that progress is made and that time is well spent. Our 6th Form is about personal development and new pupils to the school always comment on our friendly atmosphere and how easy it is to fit into new friendship groups.

Our 6th Form is not of a ‘one size fits all’ nature; our pupils and their courses and interests are very diverse. We are proud of the fact that our recent Independent Schools Inspectorate Report commented,

‘The school continues to provide a rich educational experience, implementing a curriculum that supports its aim of enabling all pupils to reach their potential. The curriculum is suitable for all ages, abilities and needs and is fully inclusive’.
